Have you set fitness goals that elude you no matter how much effort you expend? Maybe be you need to regroup develop an action plan and move forward. Consider the following when striving for elusive goals; they really aren’t that elusive after all!

As a personal trainer, I am well aware of the challenges some of us face when attempting to reach our fitness goals. Vaguely defined goals, little or no motivation, ignorance, time restraints, and ‘the perfect time/conditions’ can all become sticking points if we let them. Let’s look at each one individually and understand how to circumvent failure, shall we?  

Define your goals make them crystal clear in your mind. It is imperative that you know exactly what you’re striving to achieve. This will allows you to formulate a precise plan with the appropriate steps necessary to succeed. Remember the saying, “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail!” 

When choosing your goals, affirm they are something you really desire to achieve. See yourself achieving your goals even before you start, everyday, many times per day visualize success. This will help bring all parts of yourself in alignment with your chosen goals, creating conditions favorable to success. 

Do the research; determine procedures, equipment, location and other pertinent information. This will eliminate wasting valuable time as you move toward the actual goals. If you’re prepared knowing what to do and exactly how to do it you’ll be much more comfortable. 

Having decided, this is something you really want to do, finding time for the process won’t be hard. Survey your daily routine; is there time you can devote to your heart-felt goals? We all have gaps in our day we can better utilize. Make the commitment to use these gaps for your goals. 

Sometimes we wait for the perfect time to beginning. Forget about it, the perfect time is now! Now will always be the perfect time. Besides now is all we will ever have. If you haven’t started because you are waiting for the perfect time (conditions) then you know exactly what I’m talking about, because you haven’t started yet. Don’t waste another day, do it now!!! 

Decide, investigate, commit and do, it’s really that simple. Ideas are worthless without action. This concept can be utilized in any area of your life you feel it’s needed. We are more than physical beings, we are mind and spirit as well.  

Try it now. Something you’d like to accomplish or change; use the formula described above and see what happens for you. They say the definition of insanity is “Doing the same thing you always do, but expecting different results.” Oh yeah, doing nothing usually brings the same results each time as well.  

 “An idea is worthless without action.”
