Most people make a resolution, for the new year but end up giving up before the first month is over. If this description fits you, you’re not alone, and maybe a new years resolution isn’t what you need after all! Look in the mirror and ask yourself why you waited for the beginning of the year to try to do whatever it is you’re trying to do. I know your new years resolution is your like a last ditch attempt to motivate yourself to do something you should have done a long time ago, right? Well if you haven’t done it yet, chances are there is a deeper reason for this obstruction. We’ve all hear of the payoff, right? If not, I’ll tell you what it means. The payoff is the satisfaction you get from doing or not doing something you shouldn’t or should be doing. Did you get that? If not go back and read it again! Usually the payoff is received on a sub-conscious level so we’re not even aware this trade-off is going on. That is until we realize we seem to be making the same old mistakes, meeting the same old resistance or are just flat-out stuck no matter how hard we try. The way to circumvent this resistive pattern is to—ask yourself, “what am I receiving from maintaining my habit, behavior or lack of success in my attempts to ________” (you fill in the blank). It may not come to you immediately, but be cognizant, since you put it out there, you will receive your answer. Once you receive your answer—you’ve got some work to do! It not impossible, but this will require the acknowledgement, releasing or re-evaluating of some current believes existing within you on a deeper level of yourself. But once revealed, you can go to work releasing, accepting or some other internal process resulting in freedom. One last bit of advice, don’t be too hard on yourself once you figure out what your pay off is, just relax and let it go! I know it sound easy but it a paradox. Its so easy it will appear to be very challenging! |
